WHY FOLLOW HADEETH?

33:21 Verily in the messenger of Allah ye have a good example for him who looketh unto Allah and the last Day, and remembereth Allah much.

Sura Al-Imran:7

I was reading about 'Muhkam' (clear in its meaning) verses and ' Mutashabih' (ambiguous) verses and found some interesting thoughts.

(Yusuf Ali's translation): 3:7 He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.
Ibn Masud and Ubay b. Ka'b would pause here
giving the meaning
"...and no one knows its tawil except for Allah.
And those grounded in Knowledge say, 'We believe in it...'"

Whereas Ibn Abbas would pause after the second phrase first meaning
"... and no one knows its tawil except for Allah and those grounded in knowledge.
(They) say, ' We believe in it...'"

Cyclone Sidr hits Bangladesh

An elephant pushes a stranded bus as it is employed to clear a road in Barishal, 120 kilometers, (75 miles) south of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, Friday, Nov. 16, 2007. A cyclone slammed into Bangladesh's coast with 240 kph (150 mph) winds, killing at least 3,100 people, leveling homes and forcing the evacuation of 650,000 villagers before heading inland and losing power Friday, officials said. 75:16-19

MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:]
for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read].
Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]:
and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear:
